Android History and importance in our daily life | Open Source Mobile App |

Android

Android is a mobile operating system based on a modified version of the Linux kernel and

other open-source software, designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as

smartphones and tablets. Android is developed by a consortium of developers known

as the Open Handset Alliance, though its most widely used version is primarily developed by Google.

It was unveiled in November 2007, with the first commercial Android device,

the HTC Dream, being launched in September 2008.

Android Inc. was founded in Palo Alto, California, in October 2003 by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner,

Nick Sears, and Chris White. Rubin described the Android project as having "tremendous potential

in developing smarter mobile devices that are more aware of its owner's location and preferences".

The early intentions of the company were to develop an advanced operating system for digital cameras,

and this was the basis of its pitch to investors in April 2004. The company then decided that the

market for cameras was not large enough for its goals, and five months later it had diverted its

efforts and was pitching Android as a handset operating system that would rival Symbian and Microsoft Windows Mobile.

Rubin had difficulty attracting investors early on, and Android was facing eviction

from its office space. Steve Perlman, a close friend of Rubin,

brought him $10,000 in cash in an envelope, and shortly thereafter wired an undisclosed

amount as seed funding. Perlman refused a stake in the company, and has stated "I did it because

I believed in the thing, and I wanted to help Andy.

Android has a growing selection of third-party applications, which can be acquired by users by downloading

and installing the application's APK (Android application package) file, or by downloading

them using an application store program that allows users to install, update, and remove applications

from their devices. Google Play Store is the primary application store installed on Android devices

that comply with Google's compatibility requirements and license the Google Mobile Services software.

Google Play Store allows users to browse, download and update applications published by

Google and third-party developers; as of January 2021, there are more than three million applications available

for Android in Play Store. As of July 2013, 50 billion application installations had been performed.

Some carriers offer direct carrier billing for Google Play application purchases,

where the cost of the application is added to the user's monthly bill.

As of May 2017, there are over one billion active users a month for Gmail, Android, Chrome, Google Play and Maps.

Due to the open nature of Android, a number of third-party application marketplaces also exist for Android,

either to provide a substitute for devices that are not allowed to ship with Google Play Store,

provide applications that cannot be offered on Google Play Store due to policy violations, or for other reasons.

Examples of these third-party stores have included the Amazon Appstore, GetJar, and SlideMe.

F-Droid, another alternative marketplace, seeks to only provide applications that are distributed

under free and open source licenses.

In October 2020, Google removed several Android applications from Play Store,

as they were identified breaching its data collection rules.

The firm was informed by International Digital Accountability Council (IDAC) that apps

for children like Number Coloring, Princess Salon and Cats & Cosplay, with collective

downloads of 20 million, were violating Google's policies.

At the Windows 11 announcement event in June 2021, Microsoft showcased the new

Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) that will enable support for the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and

will allow users to run Android apps on their Windows desktop.

Android is developed by Google until the latest changes and updates are ready to be released,

at which point the source code is made available to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP),

an open source initiative led by Google. The first source code

release happened as part of the initial release in 2007.

All releases are under the Apache License.

The AOSP code can be found with minimal modifications on select devices, mainly the former Nexus and current

Android One series of devices. However, most original equipment manufacturers (OEMs)

customize the source code to run on their hardware.

Android's source code does not contain the device drivers, often proprietary, that are needed for

certain hardware components, and does not contain the source code of Google Play Services,

which many apps depend on. As a result, most Android devices, including Google's own, ship with a

combination of free and open source and proprietary software, with the software required for accessing.

Google services falling into the latter category.[citation needed] In response to this, there are some projects

that build complete operating systems based on AOSP as free software,

the first being CyanogenMod (see section Open-source community below).

Auto ML

Out of all the tools and libraries listed above, Auto ML is probably one of the
strongest and a fairly recent addition to the arsenal
of tools available at the disposal of a machine learning engineer.
As described in the introduction, optimizations are of the essence in machine learning tasks.
While the benefits reaped out of them are lucrative,
success in determining optimal hyperparameters is no easy task.
This is especially true in the black box like neural networks wherein determining things that
matter becomes more and more difficult as the depth of the network increases.

H20

Open-source deep learning platform
It is an artificial intelligence tool which is business oriented and help them to make a decision
from data and enables the user to draw insights. There are two open source versions of it.
one is standard H2O and other is paid version Sparkling Water.
It can be used for predictive modelling, risk and fraud analysis, insurance analytics,
advertising technology, healthcare and customer intelligence.

It features a tool, Neural Designer for advanced analytics which provides graphs and tables to interpret data entries.

Google ML Kit

Google ML Kit, Google’s machine learning beta SDK for mobile developers,
is designed to enable developers to build personalized features on Android and IOS phones.
The kit allows developers to embed machine learning technologies with app based.
APIs running on the device or in the cloud. These include features such as face.
and text recognition, barcode scanning, image labelling and more.
Developers are also able to build their own TensorFlow Lite models in cases.
where the built-in APIs may not suit the use case.

Theano

It was created to make actualizing profound learning models as
quick and simple as feasible for innovative work.
It keeps running on Python 2.7 or 3.5 and can consistently execute on GPUs and CPUs.
What sets Theano separated is that it exploits the PC’s GPU.
This enables it to make information escalated counts up to multiple times quicker
than when kept running on the CPU alone. Theano’s speed makes it particularly profitable
for profound learning and other computationally complex undertakings.

Weirdest Laws from Around the World | Strange Laws of The World |

Weirdest Laws from Around the World

Strange Laws of The World

Small judge gavel placed on table near folders

1. Calling a woman a "slut" in Oklahoma

This law created back in 1910, long before we could even imagine something like Internet trolls made it illegal to "orally or otherwise, falsely and maliciously or falsely and wantonly impute to any female, married or unmarried, a want of chastity." Back then, you could end up in jail for 90 days and have to pay the state $500. if this were put into place around the country nowadays, the Internet trolls might finally think twice before harassing women online.

2. Naming your baby something stupid in Denmark

There are a lot of weird laws around the world, but most of them don't dictate something as harmless as baby names. It might seem a little oppressive that parents are only legally allowed to pick between 33,000 government-approved names for their newborns. But then again, if it means living in a world where we never have to read about celebrity kids named Blue IvyPilot Inspector, or Apple, maybe it's not the worst idea. For more on parenting, here are 11 Leading Men Who Embraced Fatherhood Later in Life.

3. Hiking naked in Switzerland
Scrabble Tiles
Hiking naked through Switzerland used to be a thing, apparently. "Hiking in clothes is too constrictive," one nude hiking enthusiast once told Time Magazine. But since 2011, thanks to some inconsiderate nude hiker whose unsolicited naked ass was witnessed by a family, hiking in the buff could get you fined 100 Swiss francs (around $103). Pro tip: Keep the nakedness in the bedroom, and make sure you know the 5 Things Smart Men Never Say to a Naked Woman.

4. Kissing someone in Indiana while having a mustache

Any law that contains the sentence, "Mustaches are illegal if the bearer has a tendency to habitually kiss other humans," is a legal document you probably don't want to mess with. Beards, on the other hand, don't seem to be a problem. If you're still not sure whether to go full-on beard, though, Let These 10 Goddesses Decide for You.

5. Driving a dirty car in Russia

Although dirty car fines in Russia have been around since 2006, it's still unclear what exactly qualifies an automobile as filthy. In a readers' poll conducted by the Russian newspaper Izvestiya, 46% agreed that a car is dirty if it's license plate is no longer visible. How does that happen? Are Russians parking their cars in swamps? Regardless, you sure won't be tempted to get these cars dirty—meet the Leaders of the Pack: the Best New Cars for 2018.

What is Bitcoin | How This Digital Currency Works | How To Make Money Using Bitcoin Without Big Invesment

Cryptocurrency

What is Bitcoin

How This Digital Currency Works

How To Make Money Using Bitcoin Without Big Investment

Gold Round Coin on Black Surface

Fortunately, it's easier to define what Bitcoin actually is. It's software.

Don't be fooled by stock images of shiny coins emblazoned with modified Thai baht symbols.

Bitcoin is a purely digital phenomenon, a set of protocols and processes.

It also is the most successful of hundreds of attempts to create virtual money

through the use of cryptography, the science of making and breaking codes.

Bitcoin has inspired hundreds of imitators, but it remains the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization,

a distinction it has held throughout its decade-plus history.

(A general note: according to the Bitcoin Foundation, the word "Bitcoin" is capitalized when

it refers to the cryptocurrency as an entity, and it is given as "bitcoin" when it refers to a

quantity of the currency or the units themselves.

Bitcoin is also abbreviated as "BTC." Throughout this article, we will alternate between these usages.)

Bitcoin is a digital currency, a decentralized system which records transactions in a distributed ledger called a blockchain.

Bitcoin miners run complex computer rigs to solve complicated puzzles in an effort to confirm groups of transactions called blocks;

upon success, these blocks are added to the blockchain record and the miners are rewarded with a small number of bitcoins.

Other participants in the Bitcoin market can buy or sell tokens through cryptocurrency exchanges or peer-to-peer.

The Bitcoin ledger is protected against fraud via a trustless system; Bitcoin exchanges also work to defend

themselves against potential theft, but high-profile thefts have occurred.

The Blockchain

Bitcoin is a network that runs on a protocol known as the blockchain. A 2008 paper by a person or people calling themselves Satoshi

Nakamoto first described both the blockchain and Bitcoin and for a while the two terms were all but synonymous.

The blockchain has since evolved into a separate concept, and thousands of blockchains have been created

using similar cryptographic techniques. This history can make the nomenclature confusing.

Blockchain sometimes refers to the original, Bitcoin blockchain. At other times it refers

to blockchain technology in general, or to any other specific blockchain, such as the one that powers Ethereum.

The basics of blockchain technology are mercifully straightforward. Any given blockchain consists of a

single chain of discrete blocks of information, arranged chronologically. In principle this information can be

any string of 1s and 0s, meaning it could include emails, contracts, land titles, marriage certificates, or bond trades.

In theory, any type of contract between two parties can be established on a blockchain as

long as both parties agree on the contract.

This takes away any need for a third party to be involved in any contract.

This opens a world of possibilities including peer-to-peer financial products,

like loans or decentralized savings and checking accounts, where banks or any intermediary is irrelevant.

While Bitcoin's current goal is a store of value as well as a payment system, there is nothing to say that

Bitcoin could not be used in such a way in the future, though consensus would

need to be reached to add these systems to Bitcoin. The main goal of the Ethereum project is to

have a platform where these "smart contracts" can occur, therefore creating a whole

realm of decentralized financial products without any middlemen and the fees and potential data breaches that come along with them.

This versatility has caught the eye of governments and private corporations;

indeed, some analysts believe that blockchain technology will ultimately be the most impactful aspect of the cryptocurrency craze.

In Bitcoin's case, though, the information on the blockchain is mostly transactions.

Bitcoin is really just a list. Person A sent X bitcoin to person B,

who sent Y bitcoin to person C, etc. By tallying these transactions up,

everyone knows where individual users stand. It's important to note that these

transactions do not necessarily need to be done from human to human.

Various Cryptocurrency on Table

Mining

The process that maintains this trustless public ledger is known as mining.

Undergirding the network of Bitcoin users who trade the cryptocurrency among themselves is a network of miners,

who record these transactions on the blockchain.

Recording a string of transactions is trivial for a modern computer,

but mining is difficult because Bitcoin's software makes the process artificially time-consuming.

Without the added difficulty, people could spoof transactions to enrich themselves or bankrupt other people.

They could log a fraudulent transaction in the blockchain and pile so many trivial transactions

on top of it that untangling the fraud would become impossible.

By the same token, it would be easy to insert fraudulent transactions into past blocks.

The network would become a sprawling, spammy mess of competing ledgers, and bitcoin would be worthless.

Combining "proof of work" with other cryptographic techniques was Satoshi's breakthrough.

Bitcoin's software adjusts the difficulty miners face in order to limit the network to one

new 1-megabyte block of transactions every 10 minutes. That way the volume of transactions is digestible.

The network has time to vet the new block and the ledger that precedes it,

and everyone can reach a consensus about the status quo. Miners do not work to verify transactions

by adding blocks to the distributed ledger purely out of a desire to see the Bitcoin network run smoothly;

they are compensated for their work as well. We'll take a closer look at mining compensation below.
